Chivalric Games — Strong People, Ancient Disciplines, and Stories to Remember Nevesinjska olimpijada history

At Bratački Lug, strength, agility, and honor are measured not only by results but by the stories that remain. Read about how the Chivalric Games preserve the spirit of ancient folk disciplines and why some competitors have become part of the anecdotes of the Nevesinjska olimpijada.

As part of the 151st Nevesinjska olimpijada, traditional knightly games will be held at Bratački Lug, a program that brings together strength, agility, endurance, and the spirit of folk competition in one place.

Competitors will test their skills in disciplines that have been one of the most attractive parts of the Olympiad for years — from strength and balance competitions to ancient games that require courage, composure, and good preparation. The audience will have the opportunity to cheer for the participants, feel the atmosphere of Bratački Lug, and be part of a program where tradition is not viewed from the sidelines but lives before the eyes of the visitors.

Everyone who wishes to participate in the Knightly Games is invited, as well as all visitors who want to support the competitors and enjoy one of the most vibrant parts of the Nevesinjska olimpijada.

At Bratački Lug, strength and honor have always been valued. In the past, people gathered to see who could throw farther, pull harder, endure longer, or show more agility, and today that same image continues through the knightly games. Only the generations have changed — the spirit of competition remains the same.

These disciplines did not originate in sports halls, but from life, work, strength, and folk tradition. That is why the knightly games hold special significance: they preserve the story of the people who came to the Olympics to demonstrate character, strength, and respect for tradition.

The Nevesinjska olimpijada remembers competitors who, through their presence, became part of anecdotes and the collective memory. One of the most memorable was Nikola Dubajić from Apatin, a member of the tug-of-war team "Džimi trans," who weighed 230 kilograms and is remembered as the heaviest competitor to have participated in any discipline of the Nevesinjska olimpijada.

His story best illustrates why strength disciplines, such as tug-of-war, have always been more than just the result — they created people who were talked about even after the competition ended.
